Growing Through Conflict

How many times have you reached for your phone and pulled up Google maps to find exactly how to get to where you want to go? Roadmaps are how we reach our desired destination. Not all roadmaps lead to a physical destination. Many of the destinations we wish to reach are things like emotional connection and intimacy with those we love. This is especially true in marriage relationships. But as when we follow Google maps and sometimes take a route we weren’t expecting, there is an unexpected but crucial roadmap in relationships that needs to be followed as well. Coach Crystal Hansen has learned that using conflict as a road map to reach deeper levels of connection and intimacy in marriage is not only normal but necessary. As she says, if you can’t recognize the detours and pitfalls in our relationships and face them head on, that is what leads to the big blowups and problems in the marriage relationship.

You Are a Good Mom

There truly is no such thing as a bad person. All of us were born with divine goodness in us and that is who we are at our core. But Satan seeks to make all of us feel like we are eternally flawed and that the things we do or don’t do make us either “good” or “bad”. One of the greatest roles that gets attacked is motherhood. There are so many rules and expectations placed on mothers that when a mother either does or doesn’t do them, she is labeled as “good” or “bad”. The biggest labeler of a mother often being the mother herself.  Coach Emily Wardrop wants to help moms drop the war they are putting themselves into by helping them know and believe that they can do so many things - and still be a good mom.  Emily believes that when a mom can know that she is the expert on how to raise her kids and on her own mothering, that is when she can tap into her divine intuition, and see what really matters and works for her family. When a mom is showing up on her terms is when she is able to be the “good” mom she desires to be.

Learning to Be More Than an Athlete

The pressure to be a good athlete starts early in a child’s life and continues as they grow and settle into their preferred sport. With so much emphasis on winning and being good it’s no wonder that many young athletes can start to equate their worth and value to the success they are  or aren’t seeing in their sport. After years of pushing and striving to be better and better herself, coach Lorrine Headrick had a wake up call that made her realize her worth and value was not tied to her success as an athlete. She now helps young high school and college age athletes know that they are still great athletes even when they make mistakes and that their worth and value is not dependent on how well they perform. By helping these athletes let go of perfectionism she is seeing them build more confidence, enjoy their sports more, and actually be more successful in all areas of their lives.

Confidence in Motherhood

What is the most powerful animal in Africa? If you said the lion you would be right. They are top predators in the food chain and called the king of the jungle for a reason. Yet at a zoo in Argentina, there are lions that humans can freely mingle with. How is this possible? The answer is one that you will have to learn by listening to the podcast today but it comes down to the fact that the lions do not realize who they are and the power they possess.  Coach Laura Dry knows that all too often moms forget the power they have within themselves and they then have lack of confidence in how they show up in that role. But the truth is every mom has immense power within and their children need them to realize that so that they can be a powerful force in the world.  Confidence breeds confidence and is a win-win for everyone.

Viewing Your Body As An Instrument

In the October 2014 General Conference Elder Jorg Klevingat said,  “Your soul consists of your body and spirit (see D&C 88:15). Feeding the spirit while neglecting the body, which is a temple, usually leads to spiritual dissonance and lowered self-esteem. If you are out of shape, if you are uncomfortable in your own body and can do something about it, then do it!” Coach Lisa Salisbury agrees wholeheartedly with these words and is teaching her clients the importance of truly taking care of their bodies, not just for weight loss but for connection with their spirits, so that the body and the spirit can be congruent in their work on this earth. This is Lisa’s second time on the podcast and this episode is just as great as her first so be sure to listen so that you can gain a better understanding of what if means to not just have a body that is considered a temple, but treat it as if it is one in how you eat, move, and use it as an instrument during your mortal journey.

Acknowledging the Importance of Our Emotions

Every human being has emotions. They are an integral part of the human experience and yet, we push them away, ignore them, and label them as either “good” or “bad”. But really all that emotions are is a vibration in our body that is produced by a thought. Oftentimes though that vibration can be so intense that we can’t even get to the point of knowing the thought that is causing them. Coach Angela Adams helps her clients better understand, acknowledge, and feel their emotions. She talks about that process on the podcast today and really discusses the importance of normalizing each of our emotions so that we can have a better life and use our emotions for our growth and development instead of to our detriment.

Learning to Better Serve Our Neurodiverse Brothers and Sisters At Church

We are raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to think that things should look a certain way when it comes to our families and Church activities. But when a family has a child that has autism, or is neurodiverse, following the script often becomes impossible in order to meet the needs of the child.  For those who don’t have children with a disability there is a lot we can do to help these families feel welcome and a part of our congregation while exercising true Christlike love. Coach Becky Fry has personal experience being a parent of a child with advanced autism. On today’s podcast she discusses the struggles families of autistic and neurodiverse children have as they navigate their place in the Church and she shares helpful tips on how we each can reach out to these children as well as their families and better bring them into our congregations by encircling them with love and understanding.

Leadership in Motherhood By Being a Better Listener

We associate CEOs with big companies that are powerful and make lots of money but some of the most important CEOs are mothers. Being a mother is one of the biggest leadership roles a woman can hold and yet so many feel they are simply just janitors that are good for nothing more than cleaning up one mess after another. Coach Mary Ann Hill wants to help young mothers realize that they truly are the CEO’s of their homes. After getting a degree from Gonzaga University that focused on servant leadership, Mary Ann sees the perfect correlation to mothers and leadership.

Turning Habits Into Rituals

We have all been taught how habits can create better results in our lives and that they can help us reach our goals and dreams. But coach Kat Jenkins believes habits are just the beginning. She helps her clients move from habits which are based in actions to rituals which may look like habits but are really practices that have deeper meaning and purpose. This episode will help you see how you can move from habit actions to a life of meaningful rituals that don’t just help you accomplish your goals but create sacred spaces out of the seemingly mundane daily tasks we all engage in during our lives.
