Some define the gospel about what you can't do, but Doctrine & Covenants 76:40-41 defines the gospel as "glad tidings" that Jesus Christ can save all. We do not need to be perfect to come unto Christ. The correct order is we first come to Christ and then we can be perfected in Him.
