Exodus 11: 5-7; 12:1-13
The only way that Israel can be completely freed from Egyptian bondage is through the death of the firstborn. And there is some wonderful symbolism there for us as well. 🙏🏻 If
Welcome to The BOM-BITES Come Follow Me Podcast! Each weekday, we share a short (generally less than 10 minutes) episode to help you “feast upon the words ONE BITE AT A TIME” as you study Come Follow Me as an individual or as a family. If you’d like to see the video that corresponds with each video, check us out on YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram by searching “BOMSocks” or @bomsocks. And while you’re at it, please go check out our amazingly comfortable gospel-themed socks at www.BOMSocks.com. If you want to have an interesting experience, search the word “plague“ in the last 40 years of general conference talks. You will see that the same God who helped Israel get out of Egypt, is the same one that will help us through modern day plagues.
In order to be liberated from Egypt, the very gods which held Israel captive had to be destroyed. Where the plagues just “random acts of cursing” or was there a purpose behind each one of these plagues?
Israel was never meant to be a slave in Egypt, so the Lord prepared a series of fantastic “object lessons” to help liberate Israel from the grasp of the Egyptians.
Moses felt very inadequate with his new task of liberating Israel from Egypt. There are great lessons here for any of us who also feel inadequate with the tasks that we have to do.
Of all of the titles of Jesus Christ that are mentioned in the Scriptures, these two might have the most power. Hopefully we can all remember that. 😇
In order for Moses to truly deliver Israel out of bondage, he first has to recognize the things that he needs to overcome. There is a pattern in these verses that is very applicable to us today.
Just like Pharaoh tried to prevent two Hebrew midwives from fulfilling their duties, Satan is also trying to prevent good women today from fulfilling their divine roles. I love this story of two women of faith who recognized their divine role and purpose and saved the day.
As we start our study of the book of Exodus, we will see parallels to our own journey through this crazy world as we strive to Let God Prevail! 😇
Man, what a year it has been studying Come Follow Me so far! All I ever learned in life…I learned in the Books of Moses, Abraham, and Genesis! 😃
