The Tower of Babel is such an interesting story. You’ve got a group of people who are trying to get into the presence of God by doing things their own way rather than doing them the way God wants them to do it. There’s definitely a valuable lesson there for you and me in our desires to get closer to God.
One spring day, I was on a hike in the beautiful Colorado mountains with some friends. As often happens in the spring there, a rainstorm suddenly started booming thunder and cracks of lightning that seemed to be striking really, really close by.
It must have been pretty frustrating for Noah to invite all to get in the ark and to have them ignore his counsel. I’m so grateful for a modern-day Noah who is not only inviting us to do the same thing, but asking us to “flood the earth” with messages of goodness in hopes that they will choose to get in the ark and choose to stay.
I often cringe when I think about some of the things I did as a teenager just to be “funny”, that were not totally aligned with my values at the time. What can Noah teach us about this?
