Russell T. Osguthorpe has served as Sunday School General President, Area Seventy, and with his wife Lolly as mission leaders and temple president and matron. They are currently serving as virtual BYU-Pathway missionaries for students in the Caribbean. He holds a Ph.D. in instructional psychology and has served as a professor and administrator at Brigham Young University. He speaks several languages and enjoys swimming, hiking, and biking. He and his wife are the parents of five children and live in Provo, Utah. Highlights

Genesis 37–41

In this episode we'll discuss the trials faced by Joseph of Egypt, including his being sold into slavery, being tempted to violate his covenants of chastity, and eventually being incarcerated on false charges. We talk about how even though he was obedient, he was not protected from serious trials. Yet throughout the whole time, the Lord was with him. We'll discuss how this applies to our own lives, how we cannot avoid trials even through obedience, but that we can have the Lord's help to support us during difficulty.

Is Weight an Indicator of Health?

Is weight an indicator of health? We often think that skinny people are healthier than people with obesity, but research suggests we may be wrong about how we view body weight. Studies have shown that BMI isn’t always an accurate predictor of health. While the risks associated with being overweight shouldn’t be ignored, countless other factors contribute to wellbeing and are better determinants of health. Nevertheless, the impacts of diet culture and society’s predisposed assumptions about fatness still impact both old and young. In this podcast episode, we explore the relationship between weight and health.
