Taking Care of Our Bodies for the Right Reasons

There are so many things that we feel pressured to do by the people around us. We need to eat better, to exercise more, to get our hair done, to dress well, the list goes on and on. And while these things aren't inherently negative, if we only do them because of the societal guilt we feel, they aren't doing us the good that we could be. Learning to Be Present

In a world that is swirling and on the go at a rapid and constant pace, it can be very difficult to be in the presence of what is right in front of you. But it is presence that actually allows us to more fully partake of the life we want to live.  Coach Denita Bremer defines presence as the state of being fully in the moment physically, emotionally, and spiritually, right here and now. When we can drop into this space is when we have less resistance and anxiety and more flow and ease. Christ was a great example of living in the present. Denita so beautifully shares that He was able to do this because He had learned that Being the Son of God is what gave Him His power, not what He accomplished in His life. The same is true for us. Our power comes from who we are, not what we do.  So come listen to the podcast today and learn some great tips on how to be present so that you can access the true power of who you are instead of what you do or do not do in your life.

Introducing “Stick With It”: What happens when you lean in to a challenging perspective?

When you encounter a perspective that contradicts your own, the natural instinct is to either shut down or push back. But staying with that discomfort can pay off. Maybe it deepens a relationship or leads to some fresh insight. Top of Mind is launching a new series called “Stick With It” where we talk with people about a time they encountered a perspective that felt challenging, chose to stick with that discomfort, and they’re glad they did. In this episode, we speak with a couple of friends – one is Black, one is white – about embracing tough conversations as they wrote a book together about race. And host Julie Rose shares a “Stick With It” story of her own. Email your story to topofmind@byu.edu.

Jeremiah 1–3; 7; 16–18; 20

In this episode we'll talk about the first half of the Book of Jeremiah. We'll discuss a little of Jeremiah's history, why his particular calling was so difficult, and how he struggled at times to stay positive. We will review how many righteous women and men throughout scripture have been called to pass through difficulty, and how righteousness does not guarantee an absence of life's struggles. We'll talk about how as we develop greater faith in Jesus Christ and look for potential positive outcomes in life, we can feel more hope and move forward with greater happiness.
