I recently met up with an old friend from high school, and boy, was it evident that we had both changed! Join me as we study the important doctrine found in Malachi 3:6.
In the spring of 1820, the question by a young boy about which church he should join opened the Restoration of the gospel and allowed God to once again speak to men on earth. If Joseph Smith had never had that question, where would your life be today? Even though our religion was brought back to earth through a question, we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints often have a lot of fear around asking questions. Many fear asking questions will draw them away from God instead of closer to Him. Coach Meagan Skidmore found herself several years ago in a position where her faith and her lived reality did not match up and she had a lot of questions. This put Meagan on a very unknown path and what she found is that as she turned to God with her questions her faith deepened.
If you or someone you know has dealt with questions of faith, this interview is for you! Join Carmen as she talks with authors Nathaniel and Terryl Givens about how to transform your faith and make it real, following your intuition, and how you can work through life’s and faith’s hard questions.
In this special edition of The Lisa Show, Lisa is joined by actor, comedian, and parent Whitney Call to answer listener-submitted questions.
The book of Malachi contains ways we can show our love to God and to help us feel connected to him…especially when our choices cause us to feel like we are far from him. If you’d like to view the video that goes with this podcast, click here
Can righting society's past wrongs help us heal from historical harm? Many people argue that America’s past mistakes, particularly its treatment of African Americans and indigenous peoples, have had consequences we’ve never reckoned with. Others argue that former injustices happened so long ago we should just move on. In this podcast episode, we explore two authors’ frameworks for personal reparations, the history of South Africa’s truth and reconciliation commission, and a Jewish perspective on repentance and repair.
In this episode we'll talk about the Book of Malachi, the last of the books in the Old Testament. Malachi lived about 500 years B.C. and during a time when the Jews were struggling to stay on the covenant path. We'll talk about the power of remembering, and how remembering our past can help us avoid future pitfalls. We'll also talk about the importance of giving ourselves grace for past mistakes already repented of. We'll further discuss the concept of moral agency and how God expects us to act first. Blessings will come in time, but only after we have make the decision to act and to show that we are willing to do our part.
Is there a commandment you really struggle to keep? Perhaps one you even kind of hate? Today we’re finding out what the Lord thinks when we begrudgingly keep His commandments.
