“Have you been born again?” It’s a question that’s been asked many times. Here’s my take on it in John 1:13.

We all have thoughts about ourselves and if you were to really examine them, are you telling yourself mostly negative things or positive things? If you said something negative, you are in the norm. You have a wonderful brain that is constantly trying to make sure that you are safe but a lot of times it goes about doing that in a very unhealthy way. After going through some hard things in her life and listening to a brain that while well intentioned, was telling her over and over again that she was not enough, Coach Alicia Hall realized that she didn’t have to believe that anymore and she started her healing journey of believing that she was enough. That Heavenly Father and the Savior love her exactly as she is and that her worth and value were determined before she even came to earth. She now helps her clients learn these same truths for themselves. She helps each of her clients recognize that they are enough, that Heavenly Father loves them just as they are, and that their lives have meaning and purpose.

Our “Stick With It” series on the Top of Mind podcast continues with a story about a children’s librarian feeling upset and attacked by the nationwide debate over book banning. But instead of dismissing her concerns about book censorship, she chose to try listening more closely to what parents and citizens were saying. After watching countless videos of confrontational school board meetings from around the country, she began to find some common ground with people demanding that certain books be banned from schools and libraries. She still opposes book banning, but she has dramatically changed her approach to concerns about the books in her library collection.
In this episode we'll talk about the first chapter of John. We'll review the callings of some of the apostles of Jesus Christ, in addition to get an introduction to John the Baptist and his mission. We'll talk about how John the Baptist is a good example of one who understood both his identity and purpose. We'll review some of the calls to action that are mentioned, such as "follow me" and "come and see." We'll also talk about how as we better understand our own identity and purpose, we can be better equipped to deal with mental health issues and increase our emotional resilience.
