Our “Stick With It” series on the Top of Mind podcast continues with an all too familiar story of a social media post provoking an unexpected, angry reaction. For Allie, posting about her Christian faith on Instagram felt innocuous and empowering. But a dear friend was hurt by the post. Allie was hurt too, but chose to validate her friend’s perspective and be vulnerable about her own. Sticking with that discomfort deepened the relationship and gave Allie insight on a better approach to posting about her spiritual convictions online.
In this episode we'll talk about the chapters Matthew 3, Luke 3, and Mark 1. We'll discuss some of the truths taught by John the Baptist, including the emphasis on bringing forth good works. We'll talk about how our heavenly heritage is a great blessing, but it does not excuse us from trying to become better through obedience to commandments. We'll also discuss some of the Savior's healing miracles and how although He has the power to heal, sometimes we are called to endure our own trials and illnesses for a long time. We'll talk about how increasing faith in Heavenly Father and His plan can result in greater emotional strength.
